Description
This is a pair of early 19th-century terraced cottages located on the west side of Lower Terrace, Camden. The cottages are built of yellow stock brick. They are two storeys high with basements and each has two windows. Each property has red brick doorways with round arches, keystones, and panelled pilaster jambs, featuring radial fanlights and panelled doors that are accessed by steps. The recessed sash windows have flat arches made of red brick and blind boxes; the ground floor windows are tripartite. Parapets cap the buildings. The interiors have not been inspected. Attached to the cottages are cast-iron railings on a low brick wall and gates leading to the forecourt. Number 2 was occupied by the painter John Constable during the summers of 1821 and 1822.
