Description
The Gardens is a lodge house, formerly associated with Branch Hill Lodge, and was built in 1868, as indicated by a roundel above the porch. It is attributed to the architect SS Teulon. The building is constructed of purple brick with stone dressings and features a slated gable and pyramidal roof, which has a brick bracketed eaves cornice. An elaborate slab chimney stack with pots is also present. The lodge is two storeys high and has an irregular three-window frontage, with an additional window extension at the south end.
In the Gothic style, the main facade includes a hexagonal projection. The entrance is located to the right within a projecting gabled brick portico that has a slate roof. There is a central bay window with a stone penthouse roof, featuring a two-light transom and a mullion gabled window with small panes above. To the left, there is an angular bay window with two pointed lights and a stone penthouse roof. The left-hand bay has a two-light transom and mullion window with small panes at the ground floor and a three-light mullioned window with small panes on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
