Description
Frognal Rise is a detached villa built in the early 19th century, with a wing added in 1884 by Marshall N Inman. It is believed that Inman may have modernized and extended the house around 1900, incorporating Art Nouveau style and "Tudor" stone features on the Lower Terrace front. The villa is constructed of yellow stock brick and has a slated hipped roof with projecting eaves.
The former central doorway has been replaced by a French window, which is approached by stone steps. The entrance is located in the stone-faced north-west corner and features a segmental arch with splayed reveals, a hoodmould, and carved decoration above depicting foliage and a nest with birds, with the roots of this tree-like feature forming a keystone. Above the entrance, there is a 3-light transom and mullion window with small panes. The other windows are 20th-century sashes, and the ground floor windows are set in round-arched recesses. The interior has not been inspected.
