Description
Stone Hall, located on Nethergate Street in Clare, is the former Clare Rural District Council Offices. The site has a history dating back to 1309, although no remnants of the original building remain. The current structure features a 16th-century timber frame but underwent significant reconstruction during renovations in 1937. It is two storeys tall, with attics and cellars. The windows are primarily mullioned and transomed casements with leaded lights, including one original casement with lattice leaded lights. The roof is tiled. Stone Hall, along with Nos 36 to 40 (consecutive) and other listed buildings on the southeast side, as well as those in Well Lane and Nos 1 to 8 (consecutive) on High Street, form a group.
