Description
Broadway House and Tudor Cottage is a 15th century timber-framed and plastered house that has been altered in the 18th century and later. It features a wing extending to the south-east at the rear, and the front is now faced in roughcast.
The building has two storeys and cellars, with a four-window range of double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars, set in flush cased frames. The doorway is accessed by steps and includes a 19th century wooden doorcase. The wing contains some sash windows and some casements, along with remnants of old pargetting patterns. The roofs are tiled, dating from the 20th century, and include a shallow plain fanlight, pilasters, and a flat cornice hood. The roofs are supported by crown post trusses, one of which has a moulded cap and base, and the entire roof features heavy smoke blackened timbers.
Broadway House and Tudor Cottage, along with Nos 1 to 9 (consecutive) and all the listed buildings on the north-west side of Nethergate Street and the south side of Well Lane, form a group.
