Description
Clarence House is an early 19th-century red brick house featuring a white gault brick front with end pilasters. The building has two storeys and a three-window range, with double-hung sash windows that include glazing bars set in plain reveals. The windows have shallow cornices supported by console brackets, and the outer windows are three-light. A central doorway is adorned with a heavy stucco portico that has Tuscan columns in antis, along with a frieze and cornice. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, featuring paired brackets under the eaves soffit. Clarence House is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 9 (consecutive) on the northwest side of Nethergate Street and all the listed buildings on the south side of Well Lane.
