Description
No 22 and Orchard House is a 17th century timber-framed and plastered house that has been refronted in the 19th century. The building consists of two tenements and is two storeys tall with attics. It features a four-window range, with double-hung sash windows that have single vertical glazing bars, set in cased frames. The central window on the ground floor is a three-light bay. The doorways are adorned with wooden doorcases that have narrow pilasters and flat cornice hoods, one of which includes modillions. The roof is tiled and includes three gabled dormers. Inside, there are some exposed beams that are stop-chamfered with scroll stops. This building is part of a group that includes No 11, Nos 13 to 15, Nos 17, 18, the Rose & Crown Public House, Nos 20, 22, Orchard House, and Nos 23 to 26 on the southeast side.
