Description
This building, known as No. 2 Mill Street and including No. 34 High Street, is a shop with storage above. It dates from the 16th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 20th centuries. The structure is two storeys high, timber-framed and rendered, with a 20th-century underbuilding in gault brick up to the first floor. It features a glazed double-Roman pantiled roof with an end chimney made of gault brick. The shopfronts are from the 20th century, with glazed panelled entrance doors, and there are 20th-century casements on the upper floor. The upper floor structure likely originally jutted out over both Mill Street and High Street, as indicated by the exposed main beams on the first floor. The roof was rebuilt in the 18th century. This building is included for its group value.
