Description
The stable block, located 180 yards east of the main entrance to Ickworth House, dates from the early 19th century. It is a single-storey building designed in an A-B-A layout, featuring a central bay that slightly projects and contains two windows, while the flanking bays are each three windows wide. The structure is built of gault brick and has dentil eaves, with rusticated quoins on the central bay. The roof is hipped and slated, topped with a small pyramid-roofed ventilator and a weathervane. The windows are small-pane sash types with shallow segmental arches made of gauged brick. The central entrance door is framed and boarded, accompanied by an oblong small-pane fanlight, and there are two similar doorways in each of the flanking bays. To the right of the entrance, there is a mounting block with stone steps.
