Description
Ickworth Lodge is a house built in the early 19th century, with an earlier core dating from the early 18th century. The building features two and three storey ranges constructed from colour-washed brick, topped with hipped slated roofs at the apsidal ends. The eaves overhang slightly and are supported by slender paired modillions. The windows have flat arches made of gauged red brickwork and contain small pane early 19th century sashes. The entrance door, which is panelled, dates from the early 20th century. The north and central blocks of the house represent the significantly altered 18th century core, while the south wing was added in the early 19th century. There are sections of 18th and 19th century screen walling connected to the east and north sides of the house. Ickworth Lodge was occupied by John Hervey, 1st Earl of Bristol, and his family until the completion of Ickworth House around 1830.
