Description

Briar Cottage, formerly known as Fornham Entrance Lodge, is a cottage dating from around 1840. It has 1½ storeys and attics, with rendered walls and thatched multi-gabled roofs featuring overhanging bargeboards carved with quatrefoils and pendant finials. The chimney is made of gault brick and has four square flues decorated with chevron and fluted ornamentation. The cottage includes thatched gabled oriel windows with mullions and transoms, and on the first floor, there are 2-light casements with hood-moulds. At the rear, there is a battened and boarded entrance door, sheltered by an open hipped thatched porch supported by timber posts.
