Description
No. 5 The Street is a house dating from the 16th or 17th century, with 19th-century alterations. It has two storeys and features a three-cell lobby-entrance plan with a later rear wing. The building is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a thatched roof that has central and rear chimneys made of gault brick. The mid-19th-century windows are three-light casements with small panes, while the first floor has sash windows. A 20th-century flush door is positioned in the lobby entrance. Some of the timber framing is exposed at the left-hand end of the house. Originally, the house had one storey with attics, but the roof was raised to create two full storeys, and the rear wing was added in the 19th century. This building is included for its group value.
