Description
The garden wall to the Regency House Hotel is a long stretch of high wall located along the street frontage of Looms Lane in Bury St Edmunds. The wall is partly from the 19th century and partly from an earlier period. It is constructed of red brick and divided into three sections. The western end features a splayed and dentilled brick coping. The central section is primarily a rebuilding from the late 19th or early 20th century. At the eastern end, there are two buttresses with wide bases; one is made of Tudor brick and the other is from the 19th century. These buttresses enclose the oldest part of the wall, which is made of Tudor brick laid in a random bond, with a base that incorporates mixed flint and stone blocks.
