Description
The garden wall at Stanstead Bury, dating from the 16th or 17th century, is constructed of red brick and stands approximately 2.5 metres high. It surrounds a terraced garden that measures about 60 metres by 30 metres. There are entrances with gates located on the west side near the north corner and in the middle of the south side. The wall features buttresses that reinforce the retaining wall along the north side, which was previously the south wall of the eastern forecourt, now used as a garden.
