Description
School Cottage is a house dating from the early 17th century. It has one storey and attics, featuring a three-cell lobby entrance form and five bays. The building is timber-framed and rendered, with a thatched roof and an internal chimney stack that has a plain red brick shaft. The front has two 2-light cast-iron casement windows with small rectangular panes, along with similar windows in the upper part of the gables. Inside, the framing is of plain, good quality, with widely spaced studs and no middle rails. The internal trusses have low collars and lack tie-beams, allowing for access to the upstairs. The layout consists of three basic units on the ground floor, but only two rooms are located above, with stairs situated in one corner.
