Description
This house, previously divided into two cottages, dates from the late 17th century. It has one storey and attics with a three-cell plan. The structure is timber-framed and faced in early 19th-century roughcast with a very coarse texture, topped by a thatched roof. An internal chimney stack features a plain red brick shaft.
The exterior showcases early 19th-century Gothick style, with three three-light windows that have moulded hoodmoulds and casements with pintle hinges. The left window is blocked, the centre window contains old diamond-leaded panes, and the right window has small panes. There is one large gabled dormer featuring a 20th-century two-light casement window with diamond leading, which incorporates some old quarries. The gables and dormer are adorned with barge-boards that have drop tracery.
There are two plank doors, one of which is blocked. The north gable includes a recessed semi-circular panel with windows: a three-light window with pointed heads and a hoodmould over, which is now blocked, and a similar two-light window above with small pane casements. Inside, a few very plain timbers are exposed, and there is evidence suggesting a possible extension of the frame along the line of the chimney stack.
