Description
Newton Lodge Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. The building is two storeys high and has a three-cell lobby-entrance layout. It is constructed from timber framing and rendered, topped with a slate roof. Inside, there is a red brick chimney stack featuring sawtooth shafts on a square base.
On the right side, there is a lean-to extension that covers part of the front. A rusticated pilaster on the front wall suggests that this lean-to may have been added when the main house was extended. The ground floor features two Edwardian three-light windows, with casements that reach down to ground level, and a central door. Above these, there are console-type brackets and projecting flat pediments. The upper storey has three three-light casement windows, each with a single bar to the lights and reeded flush frames. Additionally, there are half-glazed double doors with flush panels set within a heavy Tuscan portico.
