Description

The Round House is a house that was formerly a tollhouse, built in the early 19th century. It has two storeys and an octagonal plan, featuring one window on every other face. The building is constructed of gault brick and has a slated pyramid roof topped with a central octagonal chimney made of gault brick. The windows have segmental-pointed heads made of gauged brick, with small-pane casements and arched fixed lights at the top that include curved glazing bars. There are rendered dummy windows on alternate faces. The entrance door is a two-panelled design from the 19th century, with the upper panel glazed and featuring three pointed lights at the head. There is also a boarded open porch that has a segmental-pointed lead roof.
