House. C16 and C17. Timber-framed, with exposed timbers on the 2 upper storeys of the front and a rendered gable. Plaintiled roof. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic. The centre of the 1st storey projects forward in a square C17 bay, supported on ornate console brackets, and carried up to roof level in a large gabled dormer. Originally this had a high window across the front with 2 small side lights, but now has an Edwardian small-paned cross window. At attic level, the blocked original window has been replaced by a smaller 2-light small-paned casement. On the ground storey, one small-paned cross window and one small-paned single light window with transom. 6-panel door with the top 4 panels glazed. A large red brick chimney-stack is shared with No.58 (qv), adjoining on south. A small gabled rear wing. INTERIOR: front range in 2 bays with a double ogee and roll-moulding to the joists and a similar but more complex moulding to the main cross beams. One bay is interrupted by the chimney-stack, which appears inserted. The fireplace has stone jambs with re-used Norman nook shafts and a plain timber lintel. A plain clasped purlin roof in 2 bays. The rear wing has been raised.
