Description
4 and 5 College Street are a pair of semi-detached houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed of white brick and feature slate roofs with paired bracketed eaves soffits. The buildings rise three storeys and have cellars. Each end of the front has a plain pilaster. The houses have a four-window range with sash windows that include a single vertical glazing-bar in plain reveals. These windows are adorned with painted stucco cornices on stub brackets and painted stucco sills. The ground storey windows are supported by brackets that feature an Egyptian motif. There are raised stucco bands at the level of the first storey window sills and between the first and second storey windows. The name "College House" is inscribed on the lower band at the corner of No. 5. The entrance features two six-panel doors with moulded sunk panels, set in a wooden doorcase that includes pilasters with Egyptian heads, cornices, and panelled reveals. The interior has not been inspected.
