Description

No. 48 College Street is a house dating from the 17th century, with a 19th-century exterior. It features a timber frame that is roughcast-rendered and has a roof covered with 20th-century double roman tiles. The building has two storeys and a cellar, with a two-window range consisting of sashes that have a single vertical bar in flush cased frames. The entrance door is located at the right end of the front and has six flush panels along with a plain rectangular fanlight, all set within a moulded architrave topped with a flat cornice roof. At the rear, there is a wing with a double gabled roof. Inside, few timbers are exposed, but there is an edge-halved and bridled scarf joint in the rear wallplate. A derelict wing at the rear now forms part of the premises of No. 47A.
