Description

Nos 8 and 9 Station Road are a pair of houses built in 1849, marked by a plaque that reads "Model Cottages 1849." The front block features a gabled design made of knapped flint, arranged in panels with horizontal and rusticated vertical bands of white brick. The houses are two storeys high and have two window ranges, with double-hung sashes that include glazing bars, set in plain reveals with segmental arched heads. Small gables with shaped bargeboards sit above the first-storey windows. There are small side wings that are slightly set back, each with matching ornamental wooden porches. At the rear, there is a white brick gabled block, also with shaped bargeboards. The roof is covered with slate. These houses are part of a group that includes Nos 3 to 9 and Nos 13 to 15 on Station Road, along with all the listed buildings in Market Hill and Well Lane (south side).
