Description
17 Market Hill is an early 19th century house and shop made of white gault brick, featuring splayed corners. The building has two storeys, with a two-window arrangement on the west front and a one-window arrangement on the north front. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, set in plain reveals and topped with gauged brick flat arches. On the ground floor, there is a small early 19th century shop window that includes glazing bars, pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. A six-panel door is topped with an elliptical gauged brick arch. Additionally, there is a 20th-century glazed double door on the corner, which has a stucco doorcase with pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. The roof is slate, hipped at the corner, and features a modillion eaves soffit. This building is part of a group with all the listed buildings in Market Hill, Church Street, Station Road, and Well Lane.
