Description
Nos 12-14 Prospect Vale are a pair of houses built in the late 19th century. They are constructed of rendered stone with a slate roof and are designed back-to-back. The houses are two storeys high with an attic, featuring end stacks that break through the slope of the roof and are truncated. Both houses have symmetrical three-window fronts. Architectural details include a cornice, lintel and sill bands, and quoining, all highlighted in black. The windows, which have 20th-century casements, are set in original openings beneath slightly cambered lintels with raised surrounds. Each house has an open lattice-work porch. The end walls have three string courses, with the street-facing wall featuring paired attic windows. There is a low lean-to extension away from the roadside. These single back-to-back cottages are rare and form an attractive group with Nos 4-6 and 8-10.
