Description

Nos 1 to 4 on Bridewell Street in Clare are a terrace of houses built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. These two-storey, timber-framed and plastered homes are now covered in roughcast. The terrace features a seven-window range with double-hung sash windows that have glazing bars set in flush cased frames. Each house has a four-panel door framed by wood doorcases with pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice. The roofs are covered with slate. This terrace is a good example of its period and has remained almost unaltered. It is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 8, Nos 13 to 15, and Nos 30 to 34, as well as Nos 37 to 44, the Red Lion Inn, and Nos 46 to 48.
