Description
The building is a barn at Lodge Farm, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed with a timber frame and is weatherboarded, with roofs covered in corrugated asbestos and corrugated iron. The barn has seven bays and features a single aisle along the north-west side, which faces the street, as well as a later lean-to at the rear. Inside, the framing includes bisected studs and straight primary braces, but no middle rail. The trusses have straight braces connecting to the tie beams and arcade plate, with most tie beams replaced by bolted knees. The roof has one row of clasped purlins, principal rafters, and a ridge-piece, and it contains several reused rafters, some of which are smoke-blackened. There is a single porch entry at the front, featuring a hipped roof and red brick sides. The barn is included for its group value.
