Description
The barn at Moseley's Farm, dating from the 17th century, is oriented sideways to the road. It is timber-framed, with the south side partly covered in weatherboarding, but mainly encased in early 19th-century red brick and random flint, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The structure consists of 13 bays and features three gabled cart entries on the south side. Notable timber details include bisected studs, primary braces, short sections of middle rail, and stepped arrangements between the main posts. The aisles contain a significant amount of reused timber, especially in the aisle ties and posts, and exhibit a form of reversed assembly. The trusses have straight braces, most of which have been replaced by bolted knees, and the main posts lack jowls. The roof contains a single row of clasped purlins and some later strutting. The ground level of the four middle bays has been lowered for use as cattle pens. An open lean-to cart lodge has been constructed against the south front at the east end. The eastern gable end is integrated into the boundary wall of the farmyard along the road, which is made of flint and red brick from the early 19th century, featuring a brick dentil cornice and coping, with short brick pilasters dividing the bays.
