Description
This farm building, located at the south end of the farmyard at Moseley's Farm, dates from the late 17th century and serves as a combination of a stable and a hayloft above. It features a timber-framed structure with weatherboarding on the gables and along the north side. The south wall is constructed from random flint, red brick, and stone. The roof has thatch on the north slope and corrugated iron on the south slope.
Inside, the building is divided into two sections, with the timber and roof structure visible only in the western half. It contains some reused timbers, bisected studs, primary braces, and five roof bays that showcase stepped butt purlins, upper clasped purlins, and some windbracing. The north side has two eyebrow dormers with small-paned casement windows, along with a window in the east gable.
A notable feature of the building is the south wall, which acts as part of the boundary wall of the farmyard. This wall is divided into five bays by plain red brick pilasters and includes small blocks of freestone evenly spaced across the flint panels. The stone is likely reused from Fornham Priory or Bury St. Edmunds Abbey.
