Description

This listing describes a group of seven churchyard monuments located in the Great Churchyard of Bury St Edmunds.

MON 208 is a headstone made of Ketton stone, dating from 1836, commemorating Elizabeth, the wife of William Guyas, who is also mentioned on the stone with a date of 1837. It has a plain design.

MON 209 is another headstone from the 18th century, also made of Ketton stone, with no legible inscription. It features a finely shaped stone with a winged angel head and flowers.

MON 210, also an 18th-century headstone of Ketton stone, has no legible inscription but displays two winged angel heads and festoons of flowers on either side of a square inscription panel.

MON 211 is similar, being an 18th-century headstone of Ketton stone with no legible inscription, featuring two winged angel heads and a festoon of flowers.

MON 213 is a headstone from 1823 made of York stone, commemorating John Bradbrook, who died in 1830, and his wife Susan, who died in 1823. This monument is plain in design.

MON 214 is another 18th-century headstone made of Ketton stone, with no legible inscription, showcasing a well-crafted winged skull.

Finally, MON 215 is a 19th-century headstone made of Portland stone, which lacks a legible inscription. It depicts Father Time holding a scythe in his right hand and pouring sand from a broken hourglass in his left hand over a portrait medallion of the deceased.
