Description
A group of three churchyard monuments located in the Great Churchyard of Bury St Edmunds.
MON 131 is a headstone from 1769 made of Ketton stone, dedicated to a person with the surname Rayment. It features two winged angel heads flanking a crown.
MON 153 is a headstone from 1805, also made of Ketton stone, commemorating Will Abbott, with the inscription noting that "Near this place lie five of his children," and also mentioning Elizabeth, presumably his wife, who passed away in 1846. This headstone is plain in design.
MON 154 is a headstone from 1833, again made of Ketton stone, honoring Samuel Neagus and his wife Susannah, who died in 1845. It also mentions their daughters Mary and Elizabeth. This monument is a palimpsest and features a well-crafted skull and palms on the west face.
