Description
A group of three churchyard memorials located in the Great Churchyard of Bury St Edmunds.
The first memorial, MON 69, is a tombstone with rounded ends made of Portland stone, dating from 1829. It commemorates John Parkerson de Carle and his wife Ann, both of whom died in 1829.
The second memorial, MON 70, is a headstone from 1753 dedicated to James Irwin and his wife Ann, who died in 1756, as well as four of their children: James, Ann, Mary, and Elizabeth. It also honors Joseph Manning, who died in 1794, and his wife Ann, who died in 1817, along with four children of John Parkerson de Carle and an infant son of Eli and Ann de Carle, who died in 1825.
The third memorial, MON 71, is a flat coffin-shaped ledger made of York stone, associated with MON 70.
