Description
Old Hall Cottage is a house dating from around 1570, with a rear wing added around 1600. It has undergone alterations around 1970. The building features a three-cell plan and stands two storeys high. It is constructed with a timber frame and plastered exterior, topped with a concrete tiled roof that has an axial chimney made of 20th-century red brick. The cottage has mid-20th-century aluminium casements and an entrance door. Both construction phases display well-preserved framing, with close studding and blocked diamond mullioned windows. The roofs have clasped purlins, with the later section featuring heavy principal rafters. The main range includes lintel-led open fireplaces. The cottage is noted for its complete 16th-century framing, despite the 20th-century alterations.
