Description

The Smith Memorial, located about 15 meters north of the Church of St. Mary in Rickinghall Superior, is a chest tomb dedicated to J. Smith, who died in 1810, and his wife Susanna, who died in 1838. The memorial is likely from the time of Susanna's death. It is constructed of ashlar and features a moulded base with an inscribed capping. The tomb has two panelled sides, each with secondary inscriptions, and is adorned with reeded pilasters at the corners and dividing the longer sides.
