Description

Walnut Tree Cottage, formerly known as Meadow Cottage, is a house dating from the mid-17th century. It features a roughcast timber-frame construction sitting on a brick plinth, topped with a thatched roof. The building has a two-celled baffle-entry plan and is one storey high. On the front elevation, there is an early 19th-century plank door to the left and an early 20th-century half-glazed door to the right. The cottage has two 18th-century three-light casement windows. The gabled roof includes a saw-toothed 17th-century ridge stack positioned to the right of the center. At the rear, there are brick extensions. The east gable head reveals the roof structure, which consists of collars and clasped purlins.
