Description

The building at Mockery Gap, previously known as Meadow View, is a cottage dating possibly from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble with a thatched, gable-ended roof and rendered end stacks. The cottage is one-and-a-half storeys high, with a three-window front. It features 2-light casement windows, with 20th-century glazing bars (likely made of coated aluminium) on the upper floor. The ground-floor windows are topped with wooden lintels. A central door is sheltered by a thatched porch. The wall plate is visible externally. A tiled outshut is located at the rear of the property. The building is documented in “RCHM, Dorset, vol III”, page 148, number 5.
