STONHAM ASPAL EAST END ROAD TM 16 SE 3/174 Woolmers - 9-12-55 - II

House; early C17 with extension of c.1700. 2 storeys and attics. 3-cell cross-passage entrance plan. Timber-framed and plastered with cable-pattern pargetting. Thatched roof with an axial C17 chimney of red brick, and an C18 internal end chimney to left. Various C19 and C20 small-pane casements. A number of mullioned windows have been exposed and glazed; mainly of diamond form but some ovolo-moulded. Good 2-storey entrance porch, early C17 but not original, with gabled thatched roof; over the entrance is a projecting 4-light ovolo-moulded mullioned window, and at the ground storey the side walls are open with turned balusters. C20 boarded inner door. Framing fully exposed and complete, with wind-braced clasped-purlin roof. Two plastered arched chamber fireplaces. Two sets of original newel stairs, one being at the service end, the other against the hall/parlour chimney.
