Description
Tudor House is a house dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, featuring two storeys and attics. It has a three-cell cross-entry plan with some additions. The structure is timber-framed and plastered, topped with a concrete plaintiled roof. An axial chimney, rebuilt in 18th century red brick, is present. The house has various small-pane casements, some from the 18th century with iron casements. There is a flat-roofed early 19th century splayed bay with shallow modillions beneath the eaves and small-pane sashes. The cross-entry features an early 19th century six-panelled door, with the upper panels glazed and a small canopy on curved brackets. To the left, there is a second 19th century entrance door into the parlour, adorned with fluted pilasters and a cornice. The centre of the house includes a two-bay hall cell from the mid-16th century, showcasing close-studding and an arch-braced tie beam in the chamber. A parlour block was added around 1600, featuring an ovolo moulded bridging beam and two back-to-back open fireplaces; one in the parlour with a restored moulded plastered arch, and the other in the hall with a cambered lintel. At the service end, there is an extension to the right and rear, likely from the 17th century. The roof has 17th century side purlins with principal rafters.
