Description
Coppings Corner is a former farmhouse dating from around 1600. It has two storeys and attics, featuring a three-cell cross-entry plan. The building is timber-framed and plastered, with decorative cable pargetting, and has a thatched roof. The windows are three-light casements with leaded lights, added in the early 20th century. There is an early 20th-century entrance porch with a thatched gabled roof and a plank door located at the cross-entry. The framing is fully exposed, with floor joists laid flat and chamfered, while those at attic level are unchamfered. The roof is constructed with wind-braced clasped purlins. Inside, there is an open lintel fireplace in the hall, along with other blocked fireplaces, as the chimney shaft was removed in the 20th century. A rear staircase tower was added in the early 17th century, featuring good balustrading with turned balusters.
