WEYBREAD MILL LANE Mill Lane Farmhouse

Farmhouse. In 2 sections: late C15/early C16 hall range to right, late C16 parlour wing to left. Hall range. Timber framed, roughcast-rendered with a thatched roof. 1 1/2 storeys. Windows mainly mid C20 casements; 2 gabled dormers; plank door. A small axial stack. Some original studding is visible in the upper rooms. The floor over the centre section, with closely-spaced chamfered joists, is a later insertion. Parlour wing. Timber framed, mainly encased in whitewashed brick; roof of double Roman tiles. 2 storeys and attic. Windows mainly mid C20 casements; 6-panel raised and fielded door, the upper 2 panels glazed. Gable stack, set behind the roof ridge, with the lower portions of 4 enriched circular shafts on moulded brick bases. Internally the parlour has some fine close studding and evidence for large windows, now blocked. Arched brick fireplace. Both the parlour and chamber above have ovolo-moulded cross-beamed ceilings and cornices. Original newel stairs.
