Description

Mill Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse composed of two sections: a late 15th century to early 16th century hall range on the right and a late 16th century parlour wing on the left. The hall range is timber framed, roughcast-rendered, and features a thatched roof. It has one and a half storeys, with windows that are mainly mid-20th century casements, two gabled dormers, and a plank door. A small axial stack is present, and some original studding can be seen in the upper rooms. The floor over the center section has closely spaced chamfered joists and is a later addition.

The parlour wing is timber framed, mostly encased in whitewashed brick, and has a roof covered with double Roman tiles. It stands two storeys high with an attic. The windows are primarily mid-20th century casements, and there is a six-panel raised and fielded door, with the upper two panels glazed. A gable stack is located behind the roof ridge, featuring the lower portions of four enriched circular shafts on moulded brick bases. Inside, the parlour showcases fine close studding and evidence of large windows that are now blocked, along with an arched brick fireplace. Both the parlour and the chamber above have ovolo-moulded cross-beamed ceilings and cornices, and there is an original newel staircase.
