Description
Hill Farm House, located 150 meters north of Corner Farmhouse, is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, built in two phases with 19th-century alterations. It is timber framed, mostly covered in 19th-century red brick, but retains plastering at the rear. The roof is made of glazed black pantiles and the house has two storeys and an attic, following a three-cell, lobby entry layout.
The façade features three 19th-century four-light casement windows, each with a single horizontal glazing bar, and cambered stuccoed arches with raised keys. The entrance includes a 19th-century door with six raised and fielded panels, two of which are glazed, and there is a 20th-century open timber porch. Inside, there is an internal stack, with the shaft rebuilt in the 19th century using white brick at the corners. Much of the internal structure is exposed and of good quality, showcasing several original windows and well-preserved ground floor open fireplaces. The service end has been enlarged, but evidence of the original partition remains. The parlour end and likely the current stack are slightly later additions.
