Description
Holiday House and Holiday Cottage is a former farmhouse now used as two dwellings, dating from the 16th century and early 17th century, constructed in three phases. The building is timber framed and plastered, topped with a roof of glazed black pantiles. It stands two storeys high with an attic and features a hall range flanked by cross-wings.
The parlour wing on the left showcases three identical panels of incised pargetting with a foliage design; the two panels on the side wall, which are the best preserved, have scalloped borders. The windows are a mix of casement styles from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries, along with two original mullioned windows at the rear. Notably, the parlour wing includes an original five-light mullion and transom side window, and a moulded tie beam supported by brackets carved with flower motifs.
The hall range features a lobby entrance with a 20th-century four-panel door, a heavy stack, and a smaller stack in the service wing. Much of the original structure remains visible inside. Both wings were added in the 17th century; the parlour wing has an ovolo-moulded cross-beamed ceiling, while the service wing contains a straight stair from the 17th century.
