Description
Weybread House is a house built in the early 19th century, with some early 17th-century work at the rear and a further rear wing added around 1900. The house is constructed of white brick and features a wooden mutule eaves cornice and a hipped roof covered with slate. It has two storeys and five windows arranged in a 2:1:2 pattern, with the central section set forward and topped with a flat parapet. The window openings are set within a three-centre arched recess and have inset sash windows with glazing bars under flat brick arches.
The entrance features a well-crafted doorway with a six-panelled raised and fielded door, a three-light rectangular fanlight, and panelled reveals. The doorcase is adorned with convex reeded pilasters and an entablature with a projecting cornice. The earlier 17th-century work includes a timber-framed core that is encased in brick, topped with a roof of glazed black pantiles. Inside, the staircase hall is illuminated by an elliptical lantern, and there is an open well stair with stick balusters and carved tread-ends. The house also contains some fine early 19th-century joinery, including reeded surrounds to the windows and internal doors, although much of the 17th-century work is concealed.
