Description
Dove House and Southgate House is a late 18th-century building located on Shotfold Road in Harleston. The house is constructed of grey brick and features a black glazed pantile hipped roof with a modillion eaves cornice. The façade has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with a 2:1:2 configuration and a slightly projecting central section that includes a segmental-headed recess. The windows are sashes with glazing bars. A central porch, which has Tuscan columns and an entablature with a modillion cornice, is now glazed. On the east side, there are three additional windows. The building has brick chimney stacks.
Attached to the main house is a north wing that dates back to the 17th century or earlier, which is plastered and has a very steep gable-ended roof covered in black glazed pantiles. This wing has two storeys and features two-light casements with leaded panes. Additionally, there is a lower two-storey wing from the late 18th century that extends across the end of the north wing, also with a pantile roof.
