Description

Walnut Tree Cottage is a house built in the late 16th century or 17th century, originally serving as a bakehouse for the nearby farmhouse now known as Timberleys. The cottage has one storey with attics and features a timber-framed and plastered structure. It has a plaintiled roof with an end chimney made of red brick. The windows are small-pane casements from the 19th and 20th centuries, and there is a boarded entrance door from the 19th century. Inside, the plain timber-framing is exposed. In the 17th century, a first floor was added to the bakehouse, which was originally open to the roof. A low extension made of red brick and pantiles was added to the rear in the 19th century.
