Description
This barn, located 40 meters north of Gosbeck Hall, dates back to around 1600 or the late 16th century, with significant remodeling in the early 19th century. It features about eight bays, including 19th-century stabling added to the east end. The structure is timber-framed and weatherboarded, topped with a pantiled roof that was once thatched. The barn has cusped 19th-century bargeboards with spike finials. Some of the original walling displays heavy studwork with arch wind-bracing, and several open trusses still have arch-braced tie-beams. Much of the walling and the entire roof were rebuilt in the early 19th century, and there are sets of 19th-century boarded barn and stable doors. This barn is included for its group value with the surrounding structures.
