Description
The former bakehouse range at Bocking Hall is a house built in the mid 17th century as a detached bakehouse and dairy range for Bocking Hall. It was remodeled and converted into a separate dwelling in the mid 20th century. The building has two storeys and is timber framed with plaster. It features a plaintiled roof with a central 19th-century chimney made of red brick. The mid 20th-century alterations include casement windows and two half-glazed panelled entrance doors. Some unmoulded 17th-century framing is exposed, which is clearly contemporary with the main house. Inside, the bakehouse has unchamfered floor joists laid flat, while the dairy at the right-hand end did not have an upper floor until the 20th century. The roof is supported by butt purlins.
