Description
Wisteria Cottage is a house with probable origins in the 16th century, which was remodeled in the 17th century. It features a timber frame and plastered exterior, with a roof now covered in corrugated asbestos, replacing the original thatch. The building consists of three cells and is 1½ storeys high. It has mid-20th century metal casement windows, and the lobby entrance includes a half-glazed door from the same period. To the left, there is a small mid-20th century shopfront. The chimney stack has a rendered shaft.
Inside, the structure has a three-bay frame that does not correspond to the current layout, as the stack has been inserted between the two left bays. The interior retains intact studding of variable scantling. The upper floor, likely from the 17th century, features heavy square or on-edge joists and axial floorbeams with small ogee stops. The rafters are irregular, and the upper part of the roof is concealed.
