Description

This 18th-century milestone is located 5 meters north-west of Lodge Cottage, standing on the south side of Lower Road. Made of painted granite, it has a square shape with an ogee-moulded head and is approximately 0.5 meters high, though it is now buried to about half its original height due to being within a bank. Near the top on two sides, there is a carved pointing hand with a frilled cuff. The milestone features painted Roman numerals indicating distances: IPS.XV. STOW.III. BURY XI.
