Description
Silver Birches is a house dating from around 1840, with a core dating back to the 18th century. It is located on the west side of Needham Market High Street. The house is two storeys high and is constructed with a timber frame, now rendered with a pebble-dashed finish. The roof is hipped and covered with concrete pantiles, featuring a red brick axial chimney. The windows are small-pane sashes; on the ground floor are a pair of flat-roofed, splayed bay windows with arcaded cornices. A 19th-century painted brick porch on the left-hand side provides access to a six-panelled entrance door featuring fielded panels and an oblong fanlight with border panes. Internally, the 18th-century timber framing is exposed, revealing much reused oak timber, primary bracing, and on-edge floor joists.
