Description

Two houses, originally built as one in the early 16th century and remodelled in the 1870s, with a date tablet indicating this later work. The houses are timber-framed and were faced in 1870 with red brick, accented with gault brick dressings, including broad flat pilasters at the centre and ends and a cornice at the eaves. The front facade of number 133 has been painted. The rear walls are plastered. The roofs are covered in plain tiles and feature central and rear chimneys constructed from red and gault brick. The houses are two storeys high, with two windows visible on each. Number 135 has 19th-century large-pane sash windows, while number 133 features late 20th-century casement windows. Number 135 has a 19th-century entrance door with four panels, and number 133 has a 20th-century flush door. Number 135 was formerly a cross-wing, and some original timber studwork of good quality is visible, along with a moulded binding joist. Both ranges of the house retain original plain crownpost roofs, with square posts and two-way plank bracing. There is evidence that a further cell originally extended to the left.
